OPOMUN 2026 is proud to welcome delegates from all over Portugal and abroad. If this is your first time in Porto, you’ll notice it right away, this is a city that loves connection. You’ll find the people warm and welcoming, keen to make links with people, places, and ideas.

Porto has been doing this for a long time. More than 2,000 years ago, communities settled along the river because it connected them to the wider world. Over time, Porto grew into a major port city, sending ships across the Atlantic and helping connect Europe with Africa, Asia, and the Americas. These journeys helped shape a more connected world. A world where cultures, knowledge, and ideas began to travel farther than ever before.

You’ll find evidence of this rich history all over the city as you explore, including century old bridges like the Dom Luís I, with one of the best views in Europe. If you look down on to the river below, you can see boats gliding along the Douro or if wander through Ribeira, the lively riverfront, alive with cafés, and constant activity, tourists can see the best parts of everyday life here.

The Douro River offers another reminder. Flowing through different regions and communities, it shows how shared resources connect us all, just like OPOMUN. Porto is a city known for its historic resilience, creativity, and strong community spirit. That energy feels especially fitting for OPOMUN where young delegates are coming together to share ideas and shape the future.

Locals often call Porto Invicta, meaning “undefeated.” It’s a city known for resilience, creativity, and strong community spirit. That energy feels especially fitting for Opomun where young delegates are coming together to share ideas and shape the future.

As you spend time in Porto, whether it’s watching the sunset from Jardim do Morro, or getting lost in the city centre’s narrow streets, remember that this place has always been about connection. Now it’s your turn to be part of that story.
