OPOMUN Day 1
The first day of OPOMUN is always the most exciting and radiant day. The delegates come to CLIP ready to debate, meet new people and have different interactions through diplomacy.´
Get to know one of our external chairs, Eliška Gemperle!
Eliška is one of our external chairs who comes from Prague, Czech Republic, and has quite the MUN experience as she has taken part in 4 MUN sessions and various IMEPs and has already led a committee. By meeting her and asking some questions, we understand the different points of view of how OPOMUN is seen through other lenses.
She is looking forward to this conference as she hasn’t been part of a MUN for a while and is excited to see what awaits her.
Eliška is chairing the Security Council, a first for her in this Committee. She says it’s excellent, as she believes delegates from the SC tend to be very prepared and talkative, creating an environment in which discussion shines through as they debate the topics in depth. Eliška believes that the MUN experience benefits everyone as it allows them to increase their social skills. By standing up for yourself and your country, MUNs serve as a social adventure, increasing the delegate’s public speaking skills.
Even though there can be some difficulties in MUNs, claims Eliška, such as speaking English or being scared to talk, the committee chairs tend to always be very helpful and supportive and mostly very approachable. For future chairs, Eliška advises them not to stress over chaos and to keep in mind that everything comes to place. Personally, the MUN experience was very positive as it led her towards international relationships. She recommends the MUN experience for all young adults who want to follow that path but also suggests all young adults, independently of what they want to do in the future, invest in a MUN experience.
