A few (many) words from our Secretary-General

It is our pleasure to invite your school to the 14th edition of OPOMUN – Oporto Model United Nations conference, that will be held from Thursday, 4th March to Friday, 5th March 2021.

Over the past 13 years, directors, teachers and, particularly, the students of CLIP – Oporto International School have passionately organised OPOMUN. We continue our growth path, aiming to safely expand further in participants, international-mindedness and, most importantly, in debate quality standards. Our experience has shown us how these conferences are capable of developing fundamental skills, more deeply than inside a classroom. Delegates are given the opportunity to spend amazing days meeting people of different nationalities, become acquainted with other viewpoints over sensitive and pertinent issues; most essential to us, to be different – or better said, to Dare to Make a Difference. This is the philosophy that we always keep in mind whilst organising OPOMUN: Dare to make the difference! Not only do we dare delegates to be different, but we, ourselves, have tried to make the difference over the past 13 years.

As we want to ensure the safety of all participants, we have decided that the OPOMUN 2021 conference will be held online due to the current pandemic. However, we will revisit the decision in January 2021 as we can better, and finally, assess the situation then.

In the situation of an online conference, only a symbolic fee of 20 per delegate will be due in order to be donated to the Kukula project who OPOMUN also supported last year, among another charity depending on the amount raised. You can find more information about this project by clicking here. However, if we later would be able to host an in-person event, we will inform you of the standard fee to be charged to each participant. To register for OPOMUN, please use one of the buttons below, bearing in mind that registration for individual delegates has not yet opened.

If you have any queries, please use the “need help” page of our website. We will be more than happy to help you. We hope we will have the opportunity to meet you and your students in March when you visit us for OPOMUN.

Yours faithfully,

The OPOMUN Executive Team
